MALAYSIA PAVILION COP30

What is COP?

The Conference of Parties (COP) is the Convention's highest decision-making body, where all member states review progress, adopt new instruments and make decisions to ensure the Convention's effective implementation.

Malaysia at the Frontline of Global Climate Leadership

The COP is a pivotal global event where world leaders unite to tackle the climate crisis from limiting global warming to 1.5°C and supporting vulnerable communities to achieving net zero by 2050. Under the Paris Agreement, all nations are bound to act with emissions needing to peak by 2025 and fall by 43% by 2030 to avoid the worst climate impacts.

197 countries have ratified the Convention are called Parties to the Convention.

Malaysia Deepens Ties with COР30 Presidency to Amplify ASEAN's Voice

During 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on the Environment (AMME-18) in Langkawi, a dialogue was convened between ASEAN Environment Ministers and COP30 President-Designate Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago. The engagement aligned ASEAN's priorities with Brazil's "Amazon COP" vision and secured strong coordination for Belém. By engaging early, Malaysia positioned ASEAN as a key voice in global climate negotiations ahead of COP30.

This year, Malaysia must boldly affirm its commitment to the UNFCCC mission towards achieving Net Zero by 2050
